GST Tax Rates in India, Apply GST Online Registration

The Goods and Services Tax Council has finalized the tax rates on the 18th of May, 2017.

According to these rates the goods and services would be taxed in India.

Services
Hotels and lodges with tariff below Rs 1,000, Grandfathering service has been exempted under GST. Rough precious and semi-precious stones will attract GST rate of 0.25 per cent.

GST Exemption List

The GST exemption list comprises around 100 products. All the products and services which are basic necessities are under exemption list. All the basic food items like vegetables, flour and other products consumed by the masses do not attract GST. The newspapers, printed books, postal stamps, and judicial papers are also nil rated.

Zero Rated and Zero Percent Goods and Services Tax

Zero rate goods or services refer to the businesses of exports of goods and/or services. Any supply of goods and services to the Special Economic Zone firm or SEZ developer is zero rated. These goods or services are charged at 0% rate and are eligible for input tax credit.

The rate for gold is set at 3%. Diamonds and precious stones are also under the 3% slab. Jewellery will also attract 3% Goods and Service tax. However, raw diamonds will attract only 0.25%. Readymade garments are under 12% slab.
