CHILDHOOD

Marc Cuban was born on July 31st, 1958, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He had been a child of a Jewish working family. His dad was a car upholsterer. The paternal side of the relatives were Jewish immigrants from Russia, while his mom’s side came from Romania. Marc grew up in Pittsburg suburbs known as Mount Lebanon.

Even as a child, Marc tried to earn some money to finance things his family couldn’t afford, like expensive basketball sneakers. He sold garbage bags, coins, and stamps. At one point, during the strike in Pittsburg Post-Gazette, he imported newspapers from Cleveland. Marc graduated high school a year early and enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh during his senior year.

COLLEGE

Marc remained at the University of Pittsburgh to get only 1 year. The motive was because Pitt did not possess an undergraduate business school. He moved to Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He chose Indiana since it was the lowest-priced school one of the top ten business programs in the nation. Marc graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Throughout his stay in Indiana, he had different jobs, working as a disco teacher, bartender, and party promoter.

DALLAS

Back in 1982, Cuban Transferred to Dallas. He had been living with a number of his high school buddies and was employed as a bartender. Shortly he obtained a job in the Your Business Program. He did not know a lot about computers, but he was a fast learner and after being fired out of The Business Software, he began his own business named MicroSolution. He offered it for about $ 6 million in 1990. His second venture was Broadcasting.com, which he sold to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in Yahoo stocks in 1999, only four years later he began it.

DALLAS MAVERICKS

Cuban bought Dallas Mavericks for $285 million from H. Ross Perot, Jr. Since he took over, the team has won the NBA championship and had several other successful playoff runs. Cuban is an engaged owner and is sitting next to the team’s bench during games. For the most part, he spends his time arguing with referees.
